MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees Prospects Rumored in Dan Haren Deal Profiled

I’ve posted a few profiles of Yankee prospects last night and this afternoon and despite the fact that they seem kind of random they aren’t.

The Rockies at the Trade Deadline: The Bullpen

The July 31st Trade Deadline is fast approaching. The Rockies after this last road series, are in need of help, and lots of it. Will the Rockies be serious buyers? Will they be able to upgrade their team for a 2010 playoff race? What areas will the Rockies be looking at? In the next week, I’ll write a series on the Rockies needs at the trade deadline. Today’s will be relief pitching, and later I’ll look at offensive/position players and another article will be starting pitching.

MLB Trade Rumors: Prince Fielder to Sox and 10 Unlikely Moves Fans Crave

The 2010 trade deadline is on the horizon, and deals-a-plenty have been speculated over. As we come down the stretch, the trading blocks are red hot as many names are growing close to being on the move.

Though, for every deal that is completed, there is that one deal is long speculated over and desired by many that does not fall through. It happens every year, and 2010 will definitely not be an exception to that.

This year, plenty of big names have been circulating baseball via trade rumors for weeks. Power pitchers like Dan Haren and Roy Oswalt are courted by many teams.

Fantasy Baseball's Post All-Star Break Positional Ranks: First Base

The first base position in fantasy baseball produces a lot of depth from owners to choose from either via their drafts back in March, or a waiver wire pick-up during the season. With the second half of play underway, let's take a look at how the first basemen will finish out the season.

Yankees Trade Rumors: Favorites for Scott Downs?

According to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports , the market for Blue Jays lefty reliever Scott Downs is heating up and the Yankees, along with the Red Sox, are said to be the favorites to land him. The Mets, Reds, and Twins are also said to be involved.

MLB Trade Rumors: Cliff Lee Might Be Keeping the Yankees from Dan Haren

Depending on which reports you believe the Yankees were either very close to acquiring Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Dan Haren the other day or they weren’t close at all.

Either way one of the bigger obstacles the Yankees are facing internally is figuring out a way to add the $29 million Haren will be owed over the next two years and still finding a way to budget the $20 million or so per year that it would take to land Cliff Lee this offseason.

Meet the Mets: Interview with New York Mets Top Propsect Wilmer Flores

Wilmer Flores is one of the Mets' top prospects and one of the top prospects in all of baseball. At just 18 years old, Wilmer has already been playing professional baseball for three years.

After a strong performance in Single-A this year, Wilmer was called up to High-A ball to play for the St. Lucie Mets. At 18 years old, Wilmer is the second youngest hitter in the Florida State League.

Wilmer's success continued as a member of the St. Lucie Mets. He has a .349 batting average with two home runs and 19 RBI in 29 games.

Mets Prospect Spotlight: Wilmer Flores

He may still only be 19-years old and developing in the low minors for the New York Mets, but infielder Wilmer Flores needs to be recognized more frequently from now on. He's putting up big minor league numbers that could give him an express ticket to pro baseball.

The Mets signed Flores as an undrafted free agent in 2007 as a very young 16-year old with a lot of upside.

Mets Try to Win One for the Road in West Coast Finale Against Dodgers

LOS ANGELES: There's only one thing you can do once you've gone 2-8 on a road trip. That's win the finale, which at least sends you home with some positive feelings.

The Mets need all the positive feelings they can get right now, having gotten embarrassed on an 11-game West Coast trip.

On Thursday, Mets GM Omar Minaya told reporters that Jerry Manuel is the Mets manager, and that there hasn't even been discussion regarding his future.

Nightmare Continues for Rockies in Philadelphia

Ugly. Disgusting. Sickening.

Those are just a few of the words that can describe a Rockies team that ran into the All-Star break at the exact wrong time.

The team that took the field before the break looks nothing like the team that is donning purple after it.

Blame it on being on the road. Blame it on running into some pretty good pitching. Heck, Jim Tracy blamed it on the heat and humidity in the pre-game show.

Regardless, there has to be some sort of excuse for this team playing as badly as it has for over a week now.
