Fantasy Friday: Scouring The Scrap Heap For Big Bargains

Take a look at the teams that win championships in baseball, basketball, football and hockey. Sure, they’re all blessed with star talent. But dig a little deeper and you’ll readily see that these teams also have solid role players. They may not get much publicity, but without their presence there aren’t any titles.

Bengie Molina Wasn't Helping Struggling San Francisco Staff During Tailspin

Bengie Molina didn't win the the San Francisco Giants' Willie Mac Award twice because him teammates liked how he looked in his uniform. He was, obviously, a very popular and respected teammate.

Let's put the idea that his departure to the Texas Rangers will spell doom for Giants pitchers to rest immediately, however.

Instant Replay: "Bud Selig, How Much More Blood Do You Need?"

Since the whole instant replay fiasco came out,  I try to keep my nose out of these controversial stances. I'm all for the integrity of the game and all the same for improving the game as our standard of living allows.

However, after tonight's recent game of the Tampa Bay Rays vs the Minnesota Twins, I have opted to break my silence.

On The Heels Of a Giant: When Albert Pujols Passes Stan Musial

St. Louis has been home to many of MLB's greatest players, including Bob Gibson, Lou Brock and Ozzie Smith.

But no player is more revered in St. Louis history than "Stan-the-Man" Musial.

Stan-the-Man finished his career with a .331 batting average, 475 home runs, 1951 RBIs and 3630 hits.  He went to 24 All-Star games, won three World Series, and earned the NL MVP three times.

MLB All Stars: Who Really Deserves To Make The AL All Star Team

In less than two weeks, the 81st MLB All Star game will be played. In recent years the voting has been a little one sided to a few teams players starting and only a few divisions being represented by starting rosters. This years voting so far, has been pretty much the same, especially in the American League where the Red Sox, Yankees, and Twins players dominate.

Who Knew? Five MLB Teams Playing Far Better Than Expected

Preseason predictions rarely mean very much in any sport—rarely do professional sports teams play exactly the way they "should" on paper.

This year, some of Major League Baseball's most unlikely suspects have emerged from the depths of their divisions to challenge standing powerhouses for spots in the playoffs.

Granted, the MLB season is long—162 games long.

Mets Try to Get Even With Nationals, Sending Jon Niese To Mound

WASHINGTON, D.C.: You try your hardest not to lose games to teams you're better than when your ace pitches a gem.

Last night, Johan Santana maybe didn't pitch a gem, but pitched well enough for the Mets to win. Once again, they couldn't support him with any runs.

Therefore, the Mets will have to win the next three games against Washington to win the series. Right now, they'd settle for a split, and with Stephen Strasburg looming on Saturday, the Mets need to win tonight.

Fantasy Baseball Pitchers 2010: Top Guns Report, Week 12

This is a weekly focus on the hurlers that dominated their adversaries. These pitchers put up nasty numbers and made big league hitters wish they were playing T-Ball again.

AJ Burnett vs. Brett Cecil: Pitching Drama of the Week

On Thursday afternoon, the New York Yankees avoided getting swept by the Seattle Mariners.

Yankees ace CC Sabathia led the team in the 4-2 win over the last place team in the AL West.

A-Rod sealed the deal with a two run A-Bomb. It was really in the bottom of the eighth inning and not the ninth, but who cares? A-Rod doesn't seem to think it mattered, and he was right.

Chicago Cubs: Turning It All Around, Part II (Outfield)

This article is part two of a series of articles looking at the Cubs' not-so-distant future. To read part one, which looks at first and third base, follow this link .

The Cubs have five outfielders on their 25-man roster that could start for just about any team in major league baseball: Marlon Byrd, Tyler Colvin, Kosuke Fukudome, Xavier Nady, and Alfonso Soriano.
