Los Angeles Angels Rumor Roundup: Hank Blalock

While rumors swirl about Adam Dunn or Adam LaRoche coming to the Halos in a trade, is first base the real trouble spot for the Angels?

A-Rod Bails Out Posada; Gets CC Sabathia His 10th Win

Alex Rodriguez's eighth-inning two-run homer off Mariners closer David Aardsma helped the Yankees salvage the finale of a three-game series and avoid a possibly crushing defeat thanks to Jorge Posada.

The catcher, who is one of the worst defensive backstops in the American League, was charged with a passed ball in the top of the eighth when he whiffed on CC Sabathia's 2-1 offering to Russell Branyan.

The blunder allowed Josh Bard to move to third and the speedy Ichiro Suzuki to advance into scoring position as the tying run.

A-Rod's Blast Helps Yankees Avoid Sweep

Hitting a home run with the game tied has all of a sudden become commonplace for Alex Rodriguez.

With the scored tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Alex Rodriguez hit a go-ahead, two-run home run to lift New York to a 4-2 win over Seattle Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

It was the second time in less than a week that Rodriguez allotted the Yankees a lead with a home run. His sixth inning blast last Friday in Los Angeles was the difference in the Yankees 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

Mike Scioscia: L.A. Angels Manager, Future California Governor?

California's upcoming gubernatorial election is about as bleak as the state's financial funk. It's time we made a change.

This state deserves a governor we can believe in, someone who knows how to convince the public of even the most obvious lies and keep a straight face while delivering them.

Someone like Mike Scioscia.

The manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is the perfect candidate to be California's next governor. In the first place, it's not as if he's got any real competition from the rest of the so-called political candidates out there.

New York Mets TWITTER: Lineup for Game 1 vs Nats

The New York Mets are coming off of a series loss against the Marlins in Puerto Rico, but they did win the final game. Now they head to Washington D.C. on little rest for a four-game series against the Nationals. San Francisco Giants Trade Bengie Molina to Texas Rangers: Fantasy Impact

While the MLB trade deadline is more than four weeks away, the San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers swapped catcher Bengie Molina for reliever Chris Ray and a player to be named later on Thursday.

Although this deal may appear insignificant on the surface, it’s important to understand how this trade affects not only the fantasy values of the players involved, but others as well.

More on the Bengie Molina Trade

It’s been reported that the Giants will be sending about $2 million along with Bengie Molina to Texas, which means the Giants got almost nothing for him unless Chris Ray ends up surprising almost everyone.

Why Mark Teixeira Should Not Be in the All-Star Game

Today is the final day of balloting for the 2010 MLB All-Star Game. If it had ended yesterday, Justin Morneau would be AL's starting first baseman in Anaheim.

He's garnered 2,118,654 votes, ahead of Mark Teixeira with 1,863,235 and Miguel Cabrera with 1,832,782.

I understand why Morneau is leading the vote. The Twin leads Major League first basemen with a .349 batting average, a 1.063 OPS, 16 homers, and 52 runs driven in. He's committed only one error in 676 total chances.

Making the Case: Trevor Cahill to the American League All-Star Team

The Oakland Athletics have a few players that are deserving of an All-Star invitation, including Kurt Suzuki, Ryan Sweeney, and Andrew Bailey.

Despite how great all of these players are playing right now, Trevor Cahill is the most deserving of any.

The 22-year-old right-hander is from the Southern California area and should be returning there to represent the A's in Angel Stadium. Cahill is 7-2 on the year with an impressive 2.88 ERA.

Of his 12 starts, 10 have been "quality starts," and the team has won nine of the games started by Cahill.

Former Chicago Cub, Mark Prior, Attemtping Comeback

That's right, the last Stephen Strasburg is making a comeback in baseball.

Before Strasburg came around, Prior was the most hyped pitching prospect to come into Major League Baseball. Everything you have heard in the past year since Strasburg was drafted No. 1 overall in the MLB draft was said about Prior nine years ago when he was drafted second overall by the Cubs.

He was built to pitch. His mechanics are perfect. He throws so effortlessly that he won't break down, etc...
