Sorrell won 92 games while with the Tigers and spent his entire big league career with the Tigers. He retired with an ERA+102. There have been worse pitchers to sport the Old English D. The Mets Should Trade For Josh Johnson

Yesterday, it was reported that Josh Johnson and the Florida Marlins were at an impasse in their contract talks. The Marlins are currently offering Johnson an extension that would buy out just one of his free agent years. The general thought is that Johnson's payday should be nine figures. However, the Marlins, have shown timelessly in the past, that they are against locking up players over the long term. This could make Johnson available via the trade market.

If Johnson is available, the New York Mets should go after him as they can, for several reasons.

New York Yankees Add Seven Players to Protect Them from the Rule 5 Draft

Yesterday the Yankees added seven players to their 40-man roster, protecting them from the Rule 5 draft. They also removed Shelley Duncan from the roster and out righted him to Triple-A. I predicted that the Yankees would only add four or five players, so I am definitely a bit surprised they chose to add the following seven players:

New York Mets: Is Carlos Beltran For Granderson And Zumaya A Good Idea?

We all know the Mets need to make changes after a disappointing 2009 season. All idea—for change need to be considered

That is why I look at the Tigers and see a possible answer for the Mets. I believe trading Carlos Beltran for Curtis Granderson and Joel Zumaya can help this team.

Philadelphia Phillies Should Get Back in on Roy Halladay

So, last week, the rumors resurfaced that the Phillies are still trying to acquire Roy Halladay from the Toronto Blue Jays, and the memories of the hours leading up to the trade deadline in July relinquished.

All throughout the middle month of the season, all the talk surrounding Major League Baseball was whether or not Toronto would stick to their word and trade Halladay.

Say What? Chicago Cubs Sign John Grabow To Two-Year, $7.5 Million Deal

There is always talk amongst baseball fans and writers regarding who the worst general manager in baseball is.

Dayton Moore of the Kansas City Royals and Omar Minaya of the New York Mets are usually at the top of that conversation. Well, I think we can add one more GM to the conversation—Jim Hendry of the Chicago Cubs.

I really have no idea what he is doing in Chicago. Latest example: Hendry re-signed left-handed reliever John Grabow to a two-year, $7.5 million extension.

Are you kidding?

NL Cy Young: Statistics Aren't Facts; They're Opinionated

I lied in the headline. Statistics are in fact, well, a fact. But my point is that the way people use stats are opinionated. I'll use the hotly debated Cy Young award as an example.

Here's a statement that is false: "Stats are stats. Lincecum's stats are just better. It's a fact."

Why is that false? Well, the three pitchers are three different types of players. Lincecum is dominant, Wainwright is a workhorse and Carpenter is just efficient.

Austin Jackson Added to the 40-Man Roster and Set To Compete for Job

On Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, the New York Yankees made a few tweaks to their 40-man roster. The Yankees added seven players to their roster in preparation for the upcoming Rule-Five draft. Reggie Corona, Kevin Russo, Eduardo Nunez, pitchers Romulo Sanchez, Ivan Nova, and Hector Noesi make up six of the seven players rescued from the draft.

Among those seven players is Yankees top prospect, Austin Jackson. Jackson could be the next big Yankees prospect since Derek Jeter, and could be making a splash in the major leagues as early as next season.
