Wild Thing, I Think I Love You: Re-Casting 'Major League' With MLB Stars

If you're a real baseball fan, you've seen Major League. If you're a real Indians fan, you own the DVD, quote it excessively, and own a pair of Rick Vaughn-esque glasses.

It's an absolute classic full of whacky characters, great one-liners, and some of the best baseball action sequences Hollywood has ever staged. But one of the coolest things about it (and one of the reasons why it holds up so well more than 20 years later) is that life truly has imitated art.

Derrek Lee and the Most Notable Braves-Cubs Player Swaps

On Wednesday, the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs completed a deal to send first baseman Derrek Lee to Atlanta for three pitching prospects.

The Braves needed a first baseman with some pop to complement Troy Glaus' decision to rehab in the minors and readjust himself to third base.  Lee and Glaus could also platoon, giving Glaus the time to rest his knees and give both guys solid playing time.

Teixeira Leads Yankees to Victory

Mark Teixeira was 3-for-4 with two RBI, and seven New York pitchers led the Yankees to a 9-5 win over Detroit Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.

With the win, New York remained in a first place tie in the AL East with Tampa Bay. Detroit dropped to 2-5 against the Yankees this season.

Another Cincinnati Reds Crisis: Paul Janish Pipping Orlando Cabrera?

What does a team do with so many talented starting pitchers? Uber-rookie Mike Leake has already been relegated to bullpen duty.

The Reds just plain have too many talented starting pitchers. And now this?

Paul Janish trying to Wall Pipp the shortstop position?

When Orlando Cabrera (The O.C.) landed on the DL on August 3rd with a strained oblique, Janish took his spot in the lineup as the everyday shortstop.

MLB's Five Most Plate-Disciplined Hitters

In baseball, the art of being able to recognize and take pitches out of the zone is key to success. Although hitting statistics like home runs and batting average are glorified, walks greatly contribute to wins. Here are the five most disciplined hitters, based on their O-Swing % (the amount of pitches out of the zone at which they swing).

The McCourt Divorce: Will Bud Selig Rescue the L.A. Dodgers Franchise?

(Michelle Mitchell also contributed to this article)

With the much publicized divorce proceedings between Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his wife, Jamie, set to begin in less than two weeks, fans across Dodgertown are primarily concerned about one thing—who will control the franchise heading into the 2011 season?

If the Granderson Trade Never Happened...

As the CC Sabathia and the Yankees beat up on Justin Verlander and the Tigers Tuesday night, a very interesting battle occurred within the war. Austin Jackson, an outfielder who was developed in the Yankee system, hit a home run on the first pitch thrown by the Yankees ace, CC Sabathia.

The inning later, Curtis Granderson, who was traded for Jackson, made two sparkling catches. He later followed with a home run.

Hunter Pence Hurts Johan Santana With Two Homers, Astros Defeat Mets

HOUSTON-- Johan Santana threw a complete game for his second straight start, but this one only lasted eight innings.

The Mets were continuing their series in Houston, facing a former friend in Nelson Figueroa, and they were flat yet again, losing 4-3 in Minute Maid Park Tuesday night.

They did score a run in the opening inning, produced by Jose Reyes. He lead off with an infield single, moved to second on a passed ball, and scored on a Fernando Martinez single.

Phillies vs. Giants Recap

Scoring five runs in the eighth inning Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Phillies won the first of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants.

The rally in the eighth inning was started by Shane Victorino with a single. He then would steal second base one pitch before Mike Sweeney drew a walk.

Raul Ibanez then singled to right field before Carlos Ruiz smacked a double down the left-field line to plate Victorino and Sweeney.

Fantasy Baseball Update: Pedroia, Utley, & Prado Finally Return From DL

The second base position just got a whole lot beefier, as today three of the position's top guns have been activated from the disabled list. Proud owners of Dustin Pedroia, Chase Utley, and Martin Prado have been forced to plug holes with stragglers like Adam Kennedy and Blake DeWitt. Now is your time to rejoice.
