2010 MLB Draft: How the 16th Pick Is Shaping Up for the Cubs

The Chicago Cubs hold the 16th selection in the 2010 MLB draft, which starts today.

So which player will they pick? Well, that depends on which players the teams take before them, obviously.

2010 MLB Draft: Power Ranking Bryce Harper Among the Last 10 Top Picks

The 2010 MLB Draft is here. Tonight, all 30 teams will make their first-round selections and hope they have landed their respective franchise's next star. Leading the pack, and all the coverage and hype, is junior college star Bryce Harper.

Harper is a sign, sealed, and delivered lock to go number one overall to the Washington Nationals. From there, the baseball world will descend on the 17-year-old's head as it watches and waits for him, like last year's top pick Stephen Strasburg, to make his big league debut.

2010 MLB Draft: Looking at a Few Possible Targets For The Mets

The MLB First Year Player Draft is a beast unlike any other compared to the drafts in the other major pro sports.

You won’t see the New York Jets or the Chicago Bulls drafting any player without the intent of seeing that guy play right away as a rookie.

Yet in baseball, teams are drafting guys who they know they won’t see for at least a year or two, and usually a lot longer than that.

Major League Baseball's Current Alignment is Unfair

With 30 teams in Major League Baseball, it would make sense for there to be 15 teams in both the National League and American League.

But for that to happen, interleague play would have to be used all season, and many baseball fans and enthusiasts would be opposed to this happening.

Because of this, the National League has two more teams than the American League at 16 to 14.  This causes an unfair advantage to the American League teams and players in three main capacities.

2010 MLB Draft: Ranking 10 of the Most Valuable Prospects

The 2010 MLB Draft is just around the corner and so ushers in another year of promising new talent, and rising stars that, one day, could become the next household name or MLB great.

Admittedly, this year’s draft in regard to the High School Pool is a bit shallow, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a school of player waiting to show everyone what they got.

I put together a small list of players whom I feel hold a ton of value in addition to their natural abilities. Will Player X who is hitting over .300 fall to the 10th round, and become a steal?

Why Do We Always Assume Ken Griffey Jr. Didn't Use Steroids?

The Ken Griffey, Jr. Era officially ended on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 when the player known as “The Kid” retired from baseball after 22 seasons, 630 home runs, 1836 RBIs, and 1662 runs scored.  Griffey retires with one of the greatest resumes in the history of Major League Baseball.

Read any of the coverage of Junior’s retirement and you’ll begin to piece together the narrative of his career.  Griffey was drafted No. 1 overall in 1988 by the Seattle Mariners out of high school, and made an immediate impact in the major leagues.

Still Tossing: Jamie Moyer, 47, Is Still a Valuable Option in Fantasy

Some things in life you just cannot explain.

Things like: How does lint get in my belly button? How do ugly musicians marry supermodels? And, how in the world is Jamie Moyer, 47, still winning baseball games at the Major League level?

After last night’s seven-hit, one-strikeout, complete-game performance against the San Diego Padres, in a 6-2 victory, Moyer continues to be a phenomenon.

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – June 5, 2010

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Atlanta Braves Dilemma: Is It Time To Bench Chipper Jones?

I'm a Braves fan.  I've been one since the early 90s.  In my lifetime of enjoying Braves baseball, you can't say much about the team's success without mentioning Chipper Jones in the same sentence.

At 38 years old, we all know the decline is rapidly picking up speed.  It shows on the injury sheet.  It shows in the stat line.

Chipper is batting .240 this season with 1 HR and 21 RBI.  He's slugging almost 200 points less than his career average and his OBP is drops year after year.
