What to Do with Chien-Ming Wang

It looks like the Yankees are going to skip Chien-Ming Wang's start on Friday in Fenway Park. They have a off day on Thursday and it looks like they may have Wang throw a simulated game of 80-100 pitches, they can also stop him during the game and correct some mechanical issues.

Analyzing the New Homer-Happy Ballpark

There is a new ballpark from which balls are flying out at a record pace. Home runs are jumping off the bats of both the home team and its opponents, much more so than in the team's road games, begging the question of whether this new park is going to play like Coors Field. Or at least, like Coors Field used to play.

I'm talking, of course, about Chase Field in Arizona.

Should Alex Rodriguez's Contract be Considered a Bad One?

My good friend Joe at River Ave Blues was kind enough to post my list of worst free agent contracts on

Boston Red Sox Pitcher Casey Fossum strong in Buffalo

Casey Fossum is a 31 y/o left handed pitcher who signed a minor league contract with the Mets in January. Fossum is a former No. 1 draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 1999, he spent most of his career with the Sox and Rays but has had short stints with the Tigers, Pirates, Padres and D-Backs.

Yankee Stadium: A Day Late, Hundreds of Dollars Short

The new Yankee Stadium opened with ceremony, and a 10-2 loss to Cleveland.

I was hoping to get to the opening of the new Yankee Stadium this week. I tried to call in a few favors, but the tickets never came through.

Fuggedaboutit!

I’m not the godfather.

With a slim wallet, and the cheap seats going for $200 and up, scalping was out of the question.

Instead, I took the day off from work, and saw the game on TV...for free.

The Yankees Call Up Claggett, Option Miranda

According to Chad Jennings of the Scranton Times-Tribune, the Yankees have called up relief pitcher Anthony Claggett from triple-A Scranton, and in a corresponding move optioned first baseman Juan Miranda back to the minors.

The Red Sox Know How to Manage "Injuries"

Dustin Pedroia, you say you are experiencing cold-like symptoms?

Boom!  15-day DL.

Jason Varitek, you say that you don't feel quite like you did when were 31 years old?

See ya!  15-day DL.

So, they aren't that careful with their personnel.

But, they are very careful indeed.

And one reason they can do that is because they currently have as much depth as any organization.

If Drew, Ellsbury, or Bay go down for a short period of time, Rocco can take over.

Boston Red Sox 10-Baltimore Orioles 8: An Offensive Slump Broken

Down seven runs to begin the bottom of the second inning, Boston never changed their approach at the plate. The Red Sox knew they were given too many innings to catch up.

J.D. Drew lead off the inning with a walk and Jason Bay followed crushing his third home run of the season into Baltimore's bullpen cutting the lead to 7-2.

Boston's comeback was just getting started.

The Pawtacket Red Sox Lost the Battle Friday, but May Have Won the War

Maybe the Pawtucket Red Sox lost the battle Friday night, in their home opener against the Leigh Valley Iron Pigs.

But because knuckleballer Charlie Zink and reliever Billy Traber gave them nine innings, the PawSox may win the war, the war being the remainder of a six-game homestand.

The Iron Pigs eked out a 4-3 victory before an all-time McCoy Stadium record crowd of 11,892, but the PawSox's situation is more encouraging given the efforts of Zink and Traber.

Here's why.

Humber Gone, Morillo In

One of the four players that the Minnesota Twins received for their former star, Johan Santana, may soon be gone.
