Miguel Cabrera Heading to the Boston Red Sox?

Buster Olney of ESPN made this comment on Mike and Mike in the Morning, an ESPN morning radio program: "If the Detroit Tigers are out of the playoff race early this season, look for them to trade Miguel Cabrera to the Red Sox, since the Red Sox are one of the few teams that could take on a large salary."

Cabrera is in the second year of an eight-year, $153 million deal. His annual salary ranges from $15 million to $22 million a year.

The House that Hank Smokes In

Well, it was quite a day yesterday, as the new Yankee Stadium opened up for business for the first time during the regular season.

The fans jammed the stands, the legends of Yankee past came out onto the field, and Hank went from his customary cig at first pitch to a carton, when Veras and Marte entered the game. Damon got the first hit, Posada the first home run and Veras and Marte got the first Bronx cheers.

New York Yankees Notes: Minor League Revision and Some Other Thoughts

I want to apologize for a mistake I made in my minor league post. The Scranton Yankees are 8-0, not 7-0. I should have known better but mistakes happen and I will make sure to pay closer attention.

I don't think the Yankees are going to carry 13 pitchers all season and I would have to assume they will eventually carry another outfielder to make up for Xavier Nady being out. Shelly Duncan is looking good, batting .333 so far this year. Does he get another shot??

Noise Makers Plus Baseball Equals Trash

What do you think of when you ponder the game of baseball? Hot dogs, beer, soda, peanuts, cracker jack, and the crack of the bat? Yep, sounds about right.

How about drums? whistles? thunder-slapping? Cmon.

MLB needs to jump on this garbage asap. There is NO place at a major league ball park for artificial noisemakers like drums and thundersticks.

Bullpen Blows It For Yanks' Home-opener

On September 21, 2008, the Yankees defeated the Orioles 7-3 at the last game ever played at the old Yankee Stadium. However, the Yankees couldn’t get it together in the first game at the new Yankee Stadium opener against the Indians. Despite being tied at one going into the seventh inning, the Yanks bullpen imploded in the seventh and the team lost 10-2.

Quick ‘Cap:

Yankees open with a Dud

The New York Yankees got hammered today in the home opener ten to two.

CC Sabathia grinded through 5 2/3 innings and left the game with a one to one score.

The trouble came in the seventh when Jose Veras and Damaso Marte just blew up giving up nine runs. Jose Veras gave up three runs and Marte gave up six runs.

Yankees-Indians: Bullpen Spoils New Yankee Stadium Opener

Nady Could Be Out for Season

According to Peter Abraham of the Journal News, Xavier Nady’s elbow injury could mean the end of his Yankee career, as an MRI revealed a tear in his elbow and is likely to require surgery.

Visit George's House: An itinerary to the New Yankee Stadium

Take the train to the game, as it’s part of the Big Apple game-day experience, and convenient too, dropping you off right outside the park. Once you get your bearings, take a lap around the new Yankee Stadium to take it all in; the exterior more resembles the stadium Ruth played in than the just-closed version, which had been almost completely reconstructed in the 1970s.
