In 2010, Major League Baseball welcomed Target Field in Minnesota to the family of new, exciting ballparks in the leagues portfolio of stadiums. Personally, I miss the history, and simplicity of the stadiums of the past. I have included ten historical ballparks that are missed dearly that any true fan would love to see.

The Mets suffered a pretty brutal 18-6 loss last night to the San Diego Padres that drops their record to 26-26 and into a three way tie for last place behind the Phillies and the Braves.

Hisanori Takahashi had his first bad start: 4 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 K.

Oliver Perez ’s agent apparently told the Mets to put the pitcher on the DL so he could go to Florida and see a sports psychologist and the Mets declined.

Unveiling a list like this is entertaining, but it can also be controversial. As a result, let’s be clear about who qualifies and what the criteria is.

Casual fans might have some trouble recognizing names on this list. Pitchers you’ll encounter throughout this group may have been standout prospects, but had not yet enjoyed consistent success on the major league level prior to this year.

Jake Arrieta leads a stellar class of "who's hot," for the last week and a half, while Kam Mickolio leads the other half, the "who's not-ers."

YANKEES (31-20)

Entering June in the cellar of the National League West, the D-Backs are currently riding an eight-game losing streak (including a walk-off balk given up by pitcher Esmerling Vasquez).

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Arizona State University baseball team recently received news that they will be the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming 64-team NCAA Baseball Tournament.

So that got me thinking.

That is exactly the way to describe the hitting coach for the Toronto Blue Jays, who have transformed hitters' careers around and have put the Jays' close to an AL Wild Card berth. Not surprising for a guy who has already won a World Series ring (2001 with Arizona).

The Jays lead the MLB in many offensive rankings. First in home runs already with an astonishing total of 89, first in doubles, and first in slugging percentage. I can go on and on.

According to Larry Stone of the Seattle Times , the Mariners have designated former Yankees reliever Kanekoa Texeira for assignment. They now have 10 days to trade Texeira or let somebody claim him off of waivers.

It is rare when the good in sports get the front page.

More often than not, it is a suspension, or a press conference, for a reason other than a former All-Star retiring after the end of a brilliant career.

Tonight, the New York Yankees will send their beleaguered starter Javy Vazquez to the mound against the hapless Baltimore Orioles.

This is a game the Yankees should win easily, considering the Orioles have been the bottom feeders of the AL East for the past decade and are the owners of baseball's worst record.

But for Javier Vazquez, this is not only a game he should pitch well in—it's also a must win.
