Dontrelle Willis DFA'd, Detroit Tiger No Longer

The DTrain is going to be laying down new tracks....right out of Detroit. Dontrelle Willis, the struggling left hander, was designated for assignment after Saturday night's loss to the Oakland Athletics at Comerica Park.

The move removes Willis from the 40 man roster and leaves the Tigers 10 days to trade him, release him, or send him outright to the minor leagues. However, Willis would have the right to refuse any minor league assignment and become a free agent.

This likely ends Willis' tenure in the Tigers' organization, which has spanned the past three seasons.

Concerns On Chamberlain Are Legit

A visitor watched a game at Yankee Stadium this afternoon. It was his first visit to the new ballpark.

It was quite an experience to say the least. It will never be forgotten.

It started with Alex Rodriguez's line drive landing to David Huff's head. It was similar to couple of years ago when Nick Blackburn took a Bobby Abreu line drive off his face.

The blood dripped all over Huff's face. As a result of that, Huff was taken to the hospital. The Indians sent Aaron Laffey to take Huff's place.

Roy Halladay Records 20th Perfect Game in MLB History

Newly acquired Philadelphia Phillies ace, Roy Halladay, joined an elite group with the 20th perfect game in MLB history today against the Florida Marlins.

The perfect showing was complimented with 11 strikeouts and a whole bunch of whiffs. Halladay improves to 7-3 on the season while the Phillies will move two games above the Braves to lead the division.

Strangely, this is the second perfect game this season; Dallas Braden was perfect against the Tampa Bay Rays on May, 9th.

Drug Testing Works—Pitchers are Back in Control of Baseball

I remember in the '80s, everything was about pitchers.  Gooden, Clemens, Scott, Darling, Orosco, and Franco – these were the names of those who controlled the game.

Potential Prospect Showdown: Lincoln vs. Strasburg

While many Pittsburgh Pirate fans are anxiously waiting for top pitching prospect Brad Lincoln to come up, the rest of the majors is anxiously waiting for pitching sensation Stephen Strasburg to make his debut for the Washington Nationals.

"Role Models": Most Athletes Aren't Them

Many people have let me down in life. Barry Bonds was the first person to do that.

When I was younger, around the age of three or four, I began to watch baseball. Around that time, in the late 90s and early 2000s, Bonds was the best player in the game. He made hard contact with every ball that he hit, hit gargantuan home runs, and got intentionally walked even when there were no men on base.

Baseball Questions On My Mind: A Few Minutes With Cliff Eastham

Pardon my ignorance.

You can still be a "knowledgeable" baseball fan without knowing everything. Just ask me and I will tell you....that I don't know it all.

Some things are done for a purpose, just like breathing for example. In some other things, their points of origin are not so easily decided.

Aaron Rowand Should Be Benched By San Francisco Giants

During my time here at Bleacher Report, I've been given plenty of praise and plenty of hate in the comments section of my articles.

Now notice I did not say "fair share" of both, because honestly the majority of criticism is unwarranted.

Am I saying this simply to toot my own horn?

Potent Quotables: Cincinnati Reds Version

The Cincinnati Reds have a longer, and arguably richer, history than any other Major League Baseball team.

In 1869, the Cincinnati Red Stockings were one of the inaugural teams in the National League. The seven other teams? They've all been defunct for over 100 years.

Think about the year 1869 for a second.

That is only four years after the end of the Civil War ended. Amazing!

The Reds are currently sitting on top of the NL Central...

Wake Up Call: Ryan Howard Is Not in the Top 10 First Basemen in Baseball

What's the problem with giving a huge extension to a player before their contract year?  The Philadelphia Phillies are finding out.
