Texas Rangers veteran Adrian Beltre is nearing the end of what has been a very successful career, and the four-time All-Star hit a major milestone on Friday.

In the bottom of the first inning against the Cleveland Indians, Beltre clobbered a home run to dead center. The solo shot was the 400th of his MLB career, which began all the way back in 1998 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I thought that the smokestacks at Great American Ball Park were just for show.

During Friday night's game between the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants, one of the smokestacks in the outfield caught fire.

According to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, the fire forced fans to be evacuated from the bleachers:

The Pittsburgh Pirates were able to overcome a large deficit on Friday against the Chicago Cubs to force extra innings. In the bottom of the 12th inning, Polanco had a chance to field a routine fly ball, with the bases loaded and one out.

After putting together a solid 2014 season, Washington Nationals starting pitcher Doug Fister has struggled to begin the 2015 campaign. His year took another detour Friday after he headed to the 15-day disabled list.

It feels like the 2015 MLB season just started, but we're already halfway through May, with the blurry picture we were handed in April beginning to clear up and take shape.

It's far too early to tell for certain where each team will finish. Injuries lurk, prospects emerge and trades will be secretively talked about for months.

Whitley Has Partially Torn UCL

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, Whitley has been placed on the disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow:
