Sure, the Yankees have the most stacked lineup since Woodstock.

Yeah, the Angels seem to have destiny on their side.

Of course, Dodgers have been the best team in the National League all season long.

And, true, the Phillies are the defending champs.

But... what about the Colorado Rockies?

Jamie Moyer Out for Rest of the Season

After leaving last night's game against the Houston Astros with an injury, it has been revealed that Jamie Moyer will be out for the rest of the season.

The 46-year-old pitcher tore a groin after making a pitch last night. He will have surgery at some time next week.

He will be ready for spring training next season.

After losing his job in the starting rotation in August to Pedro Martinez, Moyer has been completely dominant out of the bullpen, used primarily as a long relief man.

During the 2009 season, Moyer had a 12-10 record with a 4.94 ERA.

Cleveland Indians Fire Manager Eric Wedge


According to ESPN.com, the Cleveland Indians have fired Manager Eric Wedge with just six games left in the 2009 regular season. Wedge will finish out the season with the Indians, but Wedge and his staff will not be retained after the season.

Wedge was 560-568 with one playoff appearance (2007) in seven seasons with the Indians.

Tommy Hanson shuts out Cardinals Trifecta

The St. Louis Cardinals could lock up the Trifecta of Major League Baseball awards MVP, CY Young, and Rookie of the Year. That is until the Braves Tommy Hanson has pitched his way into the Rookie of the year favorite. The Cardinals and fans were hoping Colby Rasmus would end up with the ROY award.

For The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Two Closers Means No Closer

Going into the 2009 postseason without knowing exactly whom your closer will be seems to be a new trend in baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies are just one of the teams on board with this trend. It seems as if Brett Myers, Ryan Madson, and Brad Lidge are going to draw straws to see who is going to close in Game One of the NLDS.

Justin Morneau Out; Daisuke Matsuzaka In

Let’s start with the bad news first.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Minnesota Twins MVP candidate Justin Morneau will miss the remainder of the season because of a stress fracture in his lower back. This just sucks out loud if you are a Twins fan.

Trevor Hoffman Better Than Mariano Rivera?

Mariano Rivera may have 64 fewer lifetime saves than Trevor Hoffman, but he has been the better pitcher overall. Mo has a 0.77 ERA in postseason play while allowing only two home runs in 117 innings. He'll be a Hall of Famer.

Trevor Hoffman has posted 585 career saves, but he has a 57-68 lifetime record. On the other hand Mariano Rivera has 521, saves but has a 70-51 record.

Derek Jeter Passes Lou Gehrig To Become Yankees All-Time Hits Leader

The New York Yankees are the Boston Red Sox arch-rival, so, naturally, I despise them. Through the years, there have been many players that I have found despicable, such as third-baseman Alex Rodriguez. But there are those that I have had, and continue to have the utmost respect for. Closer Mariano Rivera is one.

Dissecting the Halladay Trade Talk

It's something that no Blue Jay fan wants to envision, but with all this trade talk lately it's all I can think about. There is a possibility that Roy Halladay could be traded, and frankly it's breaking my heart.
