Rain on The Idea to Have a Neutral Site For The World Series

White Sox and Astros players are bundled up to the point where no part of their skin can be seen. What can be seen, however, are their nerves with each breathe they take blowing into the air.

Before each batter steps to the plate he rubs his hands frantically and with each crack of the bat a player's painful grimace can be see as he scampers toward the bases.

Detroit Tigers on Pace to Win 90 Games and Division Title

The Detroit Tigers are exactly two ninths of the way through the 2009 campaign. Detroit is in excellent position to make a run in the month of May and gain some breathing room between themselves and the rest of the Central Division.

The Tigers have had four separate three-game winning streaks, but have been unable to win four in a row this year. On Tuesday night Detroit will attempt to end that trend as Dontrelle Willis once again seeks his first victory as a member of the Tigers.

The Cubs and the Brewers: Are They All That Different?

Alright everyone, get your payroll jokes and your “Where’s your World Series Championship trophy?” jokes out of your system before you start reading.

Yes, since the Milwaukee Brewers came to be in 1969, they have not won a World Series and have won just a single pennant in that span. And, of course, living north of Chicago, we all know the Cubs are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The Case for Jon Lester

Recently, before the season started, Jon Lester was getting hammered by some experts including a mild ribbing by my good friend and co-host Evan Dickens. It's apparent that no matter what Lester does he will be criticized in the end. Criticism's of Lester come primarily from Sabermetric folks who love to dabble in the formulas and the anomalies they create.

Phillies-Mets: Let the Fireworks Begin

I can feel the excitement already.  This weekend the New York Mets come to town to renew what has become a heated rivalry in the past few years with the Philadelphia Phillies.  The rivalry may not have the storied past of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry yet, but in recent years you can find fans just as passionate about it.

A Tribute To Felo Ramirez

The United States of America is the home to the greatest broadcasters in the sports world.  Since sports are universal, it is only fitting that a legend receives the publicity that is due. The person who will be the subject of this profile is Felo Ramirez.

Felo Ramirez was born in Bayamo, Oriente Province, Cubaand has the nickname of “El Orgullo de Bayamo” [The Pride of Bayamo].

Baseball's Most Underrated Fanbase: The New York Mets

(Author's note: This article was originally posted here at www.aarontorres-sports.com)

Growing up in central Connecticut, the start of baseball season was as exciting as any time of year.

Albert Pujols: Just How Good Is He?

Livan Hernandez was targeted for termination.

In Thursday’s ballgame between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets, Cardinals’ first baseman Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with a walk and hit two home runs off Hernandez.  Phat Albert now has six home runs on the season and 21 RBI.

Albert Pujols. He really is a machine.

Let me explain to you just how freakishly good Albert Pujols is.

Just When You Think the Nationals Couldn't Embarrass Themselves Any More…

A $500 fine, being benched for a game, and possibly facing demotion to the minor leagues.

What did the player do? Did he miss practice? Did he get kicked out of a game?

No…none of those things happened to Washington Nationals outfielder Elijah Dukes. He got all of the punishments mentioned above for being five minutes late to the Nationals’ scheduled report time.

Now I can understand that in light of Tom Coughlin’s almost-as-stringent rules, but wait until you hear why he was late.

Steroids on Baseball and Society

<!--StartFragment-->

This was a research paper I had to write for my ENC 1145 class. Its quite lengthy but it is very interesting. The topic was to pick a source that satirizes something and analyze the satirical elements. I received an A on this paper and A's are hard to come by in this class. I chose the episode of South Park where they made fun of steroids in baseball and well, here it is:
