Joe Torre is an all time great manager. He has four World Series Rings as a manager for the New York Yankees. He knows how to manage lineups, and certainly knows his players' mentalities.

His biggest weakness has always been bullpen management. Even back in his Yankee days, he would either overwork his veterans or not use his young guns too often, thus hindering their development.

The Yankees had a busy day Friday, acquiring Lance Berkman from the Astros and Austin Kearns from the Indians, and it looks like they could make some more moves today as the 4:00 PM Trade Deadline approaches.

This trade deadline has seen many, many trades so far, like Roy Oswalt going to Philly and Cliff Lee going to Texas.

Do not expect anything less before this deadline is over. Some players still on the market are Ted Lilly and Adam Dunn, who could really impact a team's playoff hopes. In this list, I will give the winners and losers so far during the trade period, and some targets the losers should go after.

It was a battle of the Big Daddies on Friday night at Fenway Park in Boston.

Detroit's animated closer Jose Valverde, or Papa Grande as he's known to Tigers fans, went head-to-head with Red Sox heavy-hitter David Ortiz, who is known as Big Papi in Beantown.

The Mets were looking to get revenge against the Arizona Diamondbacks after being swept by them in Arizona on the last road trip, but it didn't start out well.

Mike Pelfrey was also looking to rebound against Arizona after an awful performance on July 19 against them, a game in which he threw 51 first inning pitches.

It's a little too soon to think about the offseason, but with the injuries mounting for the Oakland A's it's only a matter of time before the rosters expand. Then the A's will be  looking at what the roster maybe like for the 2011 season. 

With that being said what players are likely to stay? What players are likely going to be gone? I'll start with the infielders and finish with the relief pitchers. 

Tampa Bay entered their weekend series against New York with the opportunity to reclaim first place in the American League East. On Friday, one swing of the bat put the Rays closer to their goal.

The 2010 trade deadline will be deemed unsucccessful for the Yankees tomorrow at 4:00 pm.

The Yankees acquired Lance Berkman and Austin Kearns on Friday, just hours before the trade deadline. Berkman will fill the Yankees void at designated hitter, and Kearns will add depth to the Yankees bench.

You can understand why the Yankees acquired Kearns. The Yankees always said they want a bench player, and Kearns can play almost every position on the field. Berkman, on the other hand, is a different story.

According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post, who’s on fire today breaking two trades, the Yankees acquired outfielder Austin Kearns from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later.

After being traded to the Phillies just one day ago, Roy Oswalt took the mound against the Washington Nationals. This debut is one that the Phillies hope isn't a sign of things to come from the 32-year-old right-hander.

The first batter Oswalt faced as a Phillie was Nationals center fielder Nyjer Morgan who started off the bottom of the first and Oswalt's Phillies career with a triple. Adam Kennedy would then ground out to second base, scoring Morgan and giving the Nats an early lead.
